This is also the place to go if you’re a connoisseur of fine wines, and if you’d like to try some of the locally-inspired special dishes created by its master chef. Himitsu is a recently opened Japanese Sushi Bar, but it also specializes in authentic Japanese seafood cuisine, and it has rapidly become one of the most prominent restaurants on the La Jolla scene.
La Jolla has acquired a reputation for developing local talent at its Playhouse, which then goes on to greater heights on Broadway and to the Comedy Store. If you’re looking for the biggest concentration of shops in San Diego, visit downtown La Jolla Village, specifically along Prospect Street and Girard Avenue. Torrey Pines State Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area, and it’s loaded with amenities, so it’s ideal for taking the whole family there for a day, to enjoy some swimming, shellfishing, surfing, and spectating.
There are all kinds of tours available in the La Jolla area, and something to suit every taste. For food lovers, there are restaurant tours where you’ll get a taste of what the area has to offer. For explorer types, you can arrange for a tour of the nearby Pacific Ocean, and all the sea creatures which inhabit the area, or you can setup a snorkeling adventure to see it all, close-up and personal. If you happen to be a wine lover, some of the finest wineries in the country are close by and can be toured, with some very satisfying samples and purchases available for your gratification.
