University City is one of those residential communities which is situated in the northwestern section of Metropolitan San Diego, directly adjacent to the University of California San Diego. It takes in an area roughly 7.3 mi.² in its extent, with a population of around 33,000 full-time residents. If you contact a property management agency in San Diego, you can find out all the details about moving in here.

The geography of the University City community is primarily composed of mesas and canyons, for instance San Clemente Canyon and Rose Canyon, both of which are extremely popular with hikers and bikers, and which provide some great open spaces for fresh air and exercise.

There are also known to be at least 100 different bird species which migrate through this region, as well as some spectacular natural scenery which can be photographed while you’re engaged with your birdwatching. Some of the most popular restaurants in the region are Season 52, the Outcast Grill, all of which are patronized regularly by locals and visitors to the area.

In addition to a great number of single-family residential dwellings, a number of area residents rent their dwellings from the Mesa Residential Apartments complex, or the Westwood Apartment Homes facility. The two primary east-west running avenues in the community are Nobel Drive and La Jolla Village Drive, while the primary north-south running road is Genesee Avenue.

Between these three thoroughfares, it’s very easy to navigate throughout the entire community, and when it’s necessary to leave the area, the San Diego Freeway borders the western edge of the community, while Interstate 805 is on the eastern side of the neighborhood. Transportation is thus readily available and that is a godsend to tourists who are trying to visit a number of attractions in the general area.

To the south, University City is bordered by the community of Clairemont, to the west you will find La Jolla, on the eastern side of the community is Miramar and the Marine Corps Air Station, and to the north, the neighborhood is bordered by Sorrento Valley and Mira Mesa. There is a thriving economic life in University City which is dominated by several large academic, office, and retail facilities, and it’s also part of an adjacent commercial area which includes Sorrento Mesa and Sorrento Valley, as well as Torrey Pines and Del Mar Heights.

Probably the area’s biggest employer is the University of California San Diego, which is situated in the northern section of the community. University City has also developed into a huge corporate center in the area, having attracted a number of accounting, consulting, real estate, legal, and other professional entities, all of which have relocated to the area so as to become closer with their customer base.

University City has become one of the biggest centers for business in the entire region, and a whole slew of professionals regularly commute across San Diego County to reach the University City area. There are three major shopping centers in the area, including a large mall which is known as Westfield UTC, and which is situated in the southeast corner of the community.
