Situated just north of downtown San Diego, west of the Hillcrest community, and south of San Diego River Valley, Mission Hills is one of San Diego’s oldest neighborhoods, and also one of its most desirable. This is a mostly residential area, although a number of commercial interests are also included within its borders to serve residents and visitors.
Everyone who visits the area quickly becomes aware of the impressive architecture evidenced by neighborhood structures, with many homes having been built in the early 1900’s. A large number of these have been preserved and restored to their original condition, so that they reflect the styles of a bygone era, even while they are still functional today.
A number of much more modern homes were built around the Canyon Rims in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and these have become very stately homes, now in great demand. There are also a number of charming craftsman bungalows, as well as huge mansions which are preserved in close to original condition, on a number of peaceful streets throughout the community.
